It’s time for my favorite contest of the year — Susanna Leonard Hill’s Halloweensie contest! This one challenges writers to come up with a full story (beginning, middle, and end) for kids in 100 words or less that includes 3 specific words. This year, the words are: goodies, goosebumps, and glow-in-the-dark! Read on for my entry!

HAPPY HOWL-OWEEN
By Lindsey Hobson
Word count: 90
The moon is big and full.
It makes my eyes glow-in-the-dark.
It glints off my fangs and my claws.
And when I throw back my head and HOOOOOOOOOWL it’s enough to give anyone goosebumps!
“Hurry up, slowpoke!” my sister growls.
I rush down the path behind her. My mouth is watering just thinking about all the goodies I’ll gobble tonight.
We run up to the door and get into position, claws out, fangs visible.
Then my sister rings the bell.
As the door creaks open, we yell —
TRICK OR TREAT!

I love this story!! You do such a good job at telling an entire story in just 90 words. You really had me thinking they were real werewolves! Impressive! Great job, friend! Happy Howl-oween! 🎃
