March is one of my favorite months for two reasons: warmer days and writing contests. This one challenges you to write a complete children’s story (beginning, middle, and end) in just 50 words or less.
Although that sounds next to impossible, I’m always blown away by the creative ways writers can craft a story using so few words.

New Leaf
50 words
The sun warmed the little bud.
Uncurling, he stretched toward the light.
The days grew longer.
Birds sang and children played.
The leaf fluttered, joyful.
Soon, the warm breeze cooled.
His edges furled and turned brown.
One grey day, the wind howled and…
SNAP!
He floated gently to the ground.

I love this story! You did such a good job telling an entire life-cycle story in such few words. Very well done!!
